Kathak, derived from the Sanskrit word Katha, meaning "story," is a classical dance form. It is a language of the body that communicates ancient narratives, invoking both the divine and the human experience. Over centuries, originating in the temples of North India, Kathak has developed and evolved, living on through time, retaining its spiritual and cultural essence.
My Guru
I come from the revered parampara of Pt. Birju Maharaj, part of the Lucknow Gharana, known for its grace and storytelling. Trained for 16 years under his dedicated disciple, Smt. Jayashree Acharya, I absorbed the wisdom and discipline passed down through generations. Her guidance has shaped me both technically and artistically, grounding me in the rich legacy of Kathak that continues to inspire my journey.
